Triathlon set to take to the streets of Germiston
Exciting Ekurhuleni 5150 African Championship Triathlon comes to town.
The second instalment of the exciting Ekurhuleni 5150 African Championship Triathlon is no longer around the corner, but knocking on the door.
Come November 2, South African and international Ironman athletes will gather at Germiston Lake to take part in the swimming, running and cycling race.
The event starts at 6am and ends at 1pm.
Regular visitors to the park should take note that, due to the preparations for the triathlon, the area will be closed to the public from October 27 to November 1.
Picnickers and members of the public are, however, welcome to come and experience the biggest triathlon in Gauteng on the day of the event.
Athletes will compete in the flat and fast 1.5km swim in Victoria Lake, and then contest a new route for the 40km cycle-leg on the N17 highway, followed by the 10km run at the park.
The athletes who outclass the rest share the spoils of the R212 500 prize purse.
