Cycle for the children

Ride for the purpose of vulnerable children.

Lambano Sanctuary is seeking the support of cyclists in the area.

The organisation is calling on all cyclists to ride in the Momentum 947 cycle challenge on behalf of Lambano Sanctuary.

“We are counting on your support for ‘the lambs’.

“Join in the fun while giving back to our children.

“The event will take place on November 15, at Riversands in Fourways,” said Portia Mlangeni from Lambano.

“Our participation in the Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge started in 2011 with just 12 riders and in 2012 we grew our numbers to 20 riders then 33 riders in 2013.

“2011 saw us finishing among the top three NGO’s in terms of funds raised.

“We are counting on your support to meet our target of at least 50 riders this year.

“We invite you to join hands with us in support of the orphaned and vulnerable children in the care of Lambano Sanctuary.

“You need to register and pay a registration fee before we can add you to our charity bond.”

How it works:

  • Register on www.cyclechallenge.co.za and email your details to portia@lambano.org.za
  • Let your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues know that you are riding for Lambano and that you need their support. Each person can sponsor per km or a set amount.
  • Get a Lambano pledge form and start signing up as many pledges as you can. Pledge forms can be downloaded from www.lambano.org.za under “donations”.
  • Ride for a purpose – complete the form on the Lambano website with your personal information so they can add you to the charity bond and have your shirt size.
  • If you are riding in a corporate cycling team, you still need to register individually.

The benefits of signing up:

  • First things first, you will be part of an awesome team contributing to giving hope and care to children in Lambano’s homes and those admitted to the hospice.
  • All donors and riders may request an article 18A tax certificate for the amount pledged.
  • Lambano Sanctuary is a registered non-profit organisation – companies can, therefore, allocate any donations to their social responsibility budget, NPO 014-535.
  • A Lambano cycling shirt.
  • An exciting and refreshing after race leisure time with massages, refreshments and snacks.
  • Stand a chance to win fantastic prizes.
  • A favourable starting time especially for novice cyclists.

It costs Lambano R7 400 per month to care for each child and every cent raised through this challenge is dedicated directly to the care and treatment of the children.

“So friends, we are counting on your support.

“Please encourage your friends, colleagues and family to join in and start getting pledges rolling,” Mlangeni said.
