Turn ’n Tender hosted its third annual golf day at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, recently.

The aim of the golf day was to raise money for non-profit organisations.

“The first golf day was at the Modderfontein Golf Course,” said Dimitri Papadakis, owner of Turn ’n Tender Bedfordview.

”We had a field of 24 teams.

“This year we moved to the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club and had a full field of 34 teams.”

Papadakis added that they wanted to give back to the communities in which they operate.

“Our stores are in seven areas of Gauteng and have been very well received and supported by these communities,” he explained.

“We wanted to give back as well and felt that supporting our local charities would be a good start.

“We are inspired each year by the huge generosity of our guests.

“They willingly give of their time, and support and encourage our initiative every year.

“The initiative started in support of St Mary’s Children’s Home.

“This year, as we have included all seven Turn ’n Tender Steakhouses, each restaurant selected a worthy beneficiary from their area.

“It is up to each steakhouse to select their beneficiary each year,” said Papadakis.

This year the Bedfordview branch chose Elandsvallei Home for the Aged, in Primrose.

The steakhouse aims to give R50 000 to each beneficiary.

The first golf day in 2013 raised a total of R65 000 and the second one raised R170 000.
