Local club members represent Gauteng

Four fighters from the Germiston Karate Centre recently represented Gauteng at the United World Karate Federation National Championship.

Sensei Sampie van Zyl, Ricko van Zyl (9), Chanaé van Zyl (11) and Ryan Bateman from the Germiston Karate Centre recently represented Gauteng at the United World Karate Federation National Championship held in Kibler Park.

All four fighters shone in their respective categories.

Sensei van Zyl received a gold medal in kata and kumite.

Ricko received a silver medal in kata and a bronze medal in kumite.

Chanaé received two silver medals in kumite.

Ryan received a gold medal in kata and kumite and a silver medal in kumite.

The Germiston Karate Centre, located in Angus Street in Germiston South, holds training on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
