Almost time to chalk up their cues

Carnival City’s Big Top is the battleground for national Blackball Champs.

Carnival City’s ample Big Top Arena is the battleground for the 2016/2017 South African Blackball Championships.

Top cueists from across the country will compete for top titles in the national tournament, hosted by the Gauteng Blackball Federation, from January 18 to February 1, next year.

Brought to Carnival City annually by United Productions, the South African Blackball Championships is the highlight on the calendar of the National Blackball Federation.

Cueists will compete in various categories including men’s, women’s, u-23’s, senior’s and masters’ categories but there can be only one champion in each.

Flags from across the country, including the nine provinces, SANDF, SAPS and USSA, will adorn the Big Top Arena’s walls, bearing witness to the action below.

“The 2015/2016 championships was a tremendous success and saw hundreds of cueists make the trek to compete.

“We are thrilled to host the event again in 2017 and encourage the community to come down and be part of the excitement,” said Matthew Cook, the events and entertainment manager at Carnival City.
