Eagles celebrate victory
Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club continued their Easterns Cricket League campaign this weekend.
After a rocky start to the Easterns Cricket League, last weekend, the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club celebrated its first win.
The club won their Saturday Second League match against Nigel Cricket Club which was played at the Elsburg Eagles Main Oval in Dinwiddie.
Elsburg batted first, setting a target of 165, all out, in their allotted 35 overs.
The match’s top batsmen were Frans Louw, with 61 runs, and Trent Murray, with 37 runs.
Nigel then took to the crease and was able to make 118 runs with only three wickets down and looked like they were going to be victorious, but Elsburg’s bowlers stuck to their guns and managed to bowl Nigel out for 156 runs, giving Elsburg a 10 run victory.

Top bowlers for the day were William Best, with for wickets in seven overs for 28 runs and Stan Thorpe, with two wickets in seven overs for 37 runs.
The club’s Promotion League match was rained out without a ball being bowled, while their Executive League match was called off when Alberton Cricket Club pulled out of the match.
