Junior rugby players honoured
Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club’s young players were rewarded for their hard work and dedication at the club’s end of year prize-giving ceremony.
There was much excitement in the air at the Elsburg Eagles Junior Rugby Club last Saturday as players, coaches, committee members and supporters were rewarded for their hard work throughout a successful rugby season.
Prizes were awarded for various achievements during a fun-filled day.
The u-10 team was particularly pleased as they were named both Team of the Year as well as Up and Coming Team of the Year.
Team coach Christiaan Jacobs and manager Ronelle Jacobs were thrilled to see their team walk away with double honours and an impressive trophy.

Other prizes included:
Coach of the Year went to u-9 coach Alwyn Venter.
Team Manager of the Year was awarded to u-9 manager Marius Smith.
The u-8 team were named Most Improved Team of the Year.
Players of the Year included:
• U-7 players Thinus Roets and Eugene Nel.
• U-8 players Wian du Plessis and Tyson Coetzer.
• U-9 players Jaden Fritz and Jayden van Wyk.
• U-10 players Kelvin Berriman and Xylon Claassen.
• U-11 players Kyle Galliot and Solami Memela.
• U-15 players Paul Ueckermann and Tabiso Nzuzo.
• U-18 players Pieter Fick and Danny Westenberg.
“Thank you to the players, coaches, committee members, parents and supporters. We have had a very successful year,” said club chairperson Tyron Smuts.
“And a huge thank you to our main sponsors Harcourts, and Mark Veale and Rochelle Veale, for all their effort and support.
“We are now ready for a well deserved rest as we wait for the new season to kick off.”
