Luso maintain winning ways

Luso Africa FC is ready to hit the ground running in 2018.

Luso Africa Football Club beat arch-rivals Germiston City Football Club 1-0 in the club’s second-last SAB League match before the Christmas break this weekend.

The win leaves Luso sitting comfortably at the top of the log, six points clear of Germiston City.

Luso dominated proceedings from the opening whistle, and spent most of the first half in Germiston’s half of the field.

Though Luso missed the opportunity to score several times, Reuben Letwaba finally found the back of the net in the 80th minute to give his club a deserved 1-0 victory.

Luso will be hoping to add to their lead when they meet Porto Football Club in their final game of the first half of the season.

In the veteran’s division, both Luso’s A and B teams made a successful start to the season.

The A team is currently sitting first in the log and the B team fifth.

The A team has lost just one game so far, and will look to hold onto top spot when the season resumes in January.

Luso’s women’s team has also enjoyed a great 2017. Having won the Safa Ekurhuleni Women’s League, the team went through to the play-offs and was promoted to the Sasol Women’s League, the top women’s league in the country.

The team will be holding trials for its Sasol League team in January.

The training for the men’s Super League for 2018 will also be starting in mid-January.
