Elsburg Wrestling Club aims to hone and nurture young talent
Elsburg Wrestling Club wrestlers shine at Presidents National Championships held in Menlo Park recently.
The Elsburg Wrestling Club has been a firm standing sports club within the Elsburg community for more than 60 years, having opened its doors in 1955.
The club, found in Mare Street, has always aimed to hone and nurture young wrestling talent despite the dip in its membership numbers over the years.
Recently seven of the club’s young wrestlers travelled to Menlo Park to compete in the Presidents National Championships.
The club walked away with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals after the event.

“Well done can never be said enough,” said coach Tobie Alberts.
“Not many clubs can boast such a success record during a competition.
“For a small club to achieve these results takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears from not just the wrestlers but the coaches, parents and club committee as well.”
Following this success, the Elsburg Wrestling Club hopes to grow their club’s membership.
