Wrestlers put through their paces at Tuks Wrestling Open

Raptors Wrestling Club members bring home eight medals from recent Tuks Wrestling Open.

Young wrestlers from the Primrose-based Raptors Wrestling Club shone at the Tuks Wrestling Open held in Pretoria, recently.

The Tuks Wrestling Open is one of the largest wrestling tournaments on the South African calendar with this year’s event drawing nearly 600 entries.

It goes without saying that competition was tough.

“Our boys and girls had their work cut out for them.

“But we are proud to report our team came home with eight medals between them,” said head coach Dewald de Wet.

“This is an amazing result considering the high quality of wrestling at the tournament.”

Medals received:

• Rico van der Westhuizen won a gold medal.

• Tiaan Jansen van Rensburg won a gold medal.

• Nathan van Niekerk won a gold medal.

• Taniqué Jansen van Rensburg won a silver medal.

• Dewald de Wet won a silver medal.

• Juan Vorster won a silver medal.

• Anton Strydom won a silver medal.

• Shannon Jansen van Rensburg won a bronze medal.
