Luso bounces back in Super League action

Luso regains confidence in Super League.

On the back of an encouraging win against Linhill Celtic FC in the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League recently, Luso Africa FC was confident in redeeming themselves when they visited Kempton Park to play an away game on May 28.

Luso recently faced Kempton Park FC in a home game and the disappointing 2-1 defeat brought their winning streak to an end and sent the team back to the drawing board.

The second team was first up on the line of play, kicking the game off with determination to defeat their hosts.

Their energy was exactly what was needed to put Kempton on the back foot early on.

This brought about good rewards for Luso as Tefo Tladi scored a leading goal closely followed by a second one from Grant Terrey and a brace by Balin Benissan.

Luso went into the break 4-0 up.

Kempton was unable to capitalise on any counter-attacks in the second half, and a relentless Luso pushed harder for the win.

An impressive goal by Leandro de Abreu followed by another by Benissan saw Luso take home a 6-1 win against their opponents.

Seeking to replicate the second team’s winning performance, the first team charged onto the pitch with vigour and went into the break with a 1-0 lead after a good first half.

The second half saw Luso increase the intensity even further and goals from Malibongwe Tsembeyi, Sizwe Magagu and Roberto da Silva, gave Luso a 4-0 win.

The teams then travelled to Boksburg last Saturday to face Boksburg FC.

The second team could not produce the same performance as they did during the week, but Mario Ferreira got Luso’s only goal of the first half with a well-taken penalty.

Benissan got the second goal of the game in the second half as Luso carved out a 2-0 win.

Still riding on the high of their win against Kempton Park FC, Luos’s first team had a thrilling game against Boksburg.

Da Silva’s brace and one goal each from Magagu and Cebo Bidi in the first half proved that Luso would be undefeated in this fixture.

Benissan scored the fifth goal in the second half and Boksburg got a consolation goal late on, finishing the game at 5-1 in Luso’s favour.
