Athletics club supports underprivileged learners in the community
Schools delighted with donation of school shoes to their learners.
Underprivileged learners in Katlehong and Palm Ridge were delighted to receive school shoes on Wednesday.
The donation of 186 pairs of school shoes from the Katlehong Athletics Club went to eight schools.
The donation followed the successful School Shoe Drive Run, a 31km run which took place on New Year’s Eve, last year.
At the handover event held at Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong, the school principals from Reahile Primary School, Mogobong Primary School, Nokulunga Primary School, Hleziphi Primary School, Soncoba Primary School, Maitjibulo Primary School, Palm Ridge Extension School and Tolamo Primary School received the donation on behalf of underprivileged learners at their schools.

“In 2019, Nokulunga Primary School, Hleziphi Primary School and Soncoba Primary School were the beneficiaries of 44 pairs of school shoes and we are happy to see that the project has grown so much and we can continue to touch lives of young people in our community,” said Hloni Motloung, chairperson of Katlehong Athletics Club.
The club appealed to school principals to continue to encourage learners to participate in sports as a drive to fight the scourge of drugs and alcohol abuse in the community.
