Local rugby club ready for the new season

Germiston Simmer Rugby Club is ready to tackle the new season and has already begun practising.

This year the club, with new sponsor Phakisa Holdings, will compete in the Pirates Grand Challenge and hope to break their 44-year drought and lift the trophy at the end of the season.

The club’s senior teams will be coached by Jean Diemieniet, Monde Petela, Mosis Venter and Eddie Mathuiysen.

Eben Barnard is no longer a coach at the club, as was previously stated.

Barnard will be coaching and assisting Mario Jordaan at Elsburg Rugby Club.

Simmer practice sessions will be held at Germiston Stadium on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm until 8pm.
