It’s what you do before the soccer season starts that makes a champion. Alex Nyamazana (24), a Germiston Puma Rangers Football Club player, shared his soccer achievements with the GCN.

According to chairperson of Puma Rangers FC, Prince Rulashe, Alex is the longest-serving Puma Rangers player and one of the best-performing players.

“Being a long-serving player is amazing and inspiring. We have some of the best players in our team,” said Alex.

He recollected the best moments of his soccer career.

“I reached final trials for Tuks and I have won the Best and Top Goal Scorer awards against Kaiser Chiefs u-17 players in one of the tournaments we hosted.

“I was also named the best player and I was one of the top goal scorers against Innocent Mayoyo’s soccer academy in Tsakani,” said

Alex, who is also a top goal scorer at Puma Rangers. The soccer player said he joined the Puma Rangers in November 2012.

“I love the team and believe it is the only team that can make my dreams come true.”

He is also an actor who has participated in a few soapies since 2019.

Alex was born in a small town in the Eastern Cape. “I grew up as a hardworking boy. I hated losing against anyone or a team we come up against,” said the soccer enthusiast.

Alex shared some of his favourite soccer moments. “We played against Germiston United, one of the best teams I have played against in the Germiston League. They gave us a tough time as they were old and strong. Playing against them was inspiring.
“I still want to see myself playing in the PSL or even competing overseas,” he said.

His message to other soccer players was to keep training and keep fit.

Alex said if players use five principles in their soccer career they can go anywhere. They are discipline, dedication, hard work, love for the game and a hunger for success.
