Local wrestler determined to represent South Africa well overseas

The humble club, located on Mare Street in Elsburg, has been running for more than 60 years and its sole purpose is to hone and nurture young wrestling talent. Logan van Heerden recently joined the club.

Logan van Heerden recently joined the club.

“I do MMA fighting as a sport and joined wrestling to better my capabilities in all aspects of the sport and my fitness,” said van Heerden.

The 17-year-old said since he joined wrestling he has learned a lot about the sport.

“As a wrestler, you need speed and technique. It has taught me to be patient, and improved my technique and timing.

“My plan is to get my national colours and represent South Africa overseas,” said van Heerden.
