Jeppe’s squash team lands on position two
They managed to defeat Bryanston Country Club home and away, making them the only team to do so in the tournament.
Jeppe Quondam’s B team clinched yet another second place as they wrapped up the Johannesburg men’s fifth league for the second consecutive year.

They missed out on position one to Bryanston Country Club B who secured 259 points, and Jeppe scored 238 points.
Third was Bryanston Sports Club E on 228 and fourth place was claimed by Jeppe Quondam A 224.
Team captain Stephanie Jones said she was proud of her team and how they performed.
She said this season was challenging, “I felt that this year was definitely harder than the last. As our skill improves so did our opponents. Moving up from the sixth league, we were introduced to new players at a higher skill level.”
They managed to defeat Bryanston Country Club home and away, making them the only team to do so in the tournament.
“We were 10 points shy at the end thanks to the Jeppe Quondam club members partaking in a refereeing course for bonus points.
“Personally as a junior lady playing squash, I enjoy playing in the men’s league as the competition is fierce, the rallies are long and the games come down to close nail-biting finish most of the time,” said Jones.

They had two youngest players competing in the league.
Jones and her brother represented Eastern Gauteng at the South African National’s Growthpoint competition and both ranked eigth in SA in U16 boys and U19 girls respectively.
She extended honourable mentions to Bilal Bhamjee whom she said didn’t lose a single match as the number three, and Dhiren the number one who lost only one game against Gavin Ruben from Parktown.
Russell, the number two, lost to Nick from the other Jeppe side in a two-to-three loss.
“He later redeemed himself by beating Nick three to two in what was deemed the longest match in the 5th league.

“I am thankful to the rest of the team for their availability every week, often making it hard for me to choose players for each round.
“Their constant support and positive attitude know no bounds and I’m incredibly grateful to have had them in my team this year,” she added.
She urged young people to take up squash as a sport regardless of experience.
