Local swimmers excel at championships

Swimmers from Dragons Swimming Club made a splash when they competed in the SA Level 2 Regional Championships.

Held from March 2 to March 5, the event took place in Pretoria.

Consisting of six swimmers, the level two team returned home with six personal bests and nine medals. These included one gold, two silver and six bronze medals.

Their coach Cailyn Hoffman said the club is proud of its swimmers.

“Their determination and team spirit were incredible to see. No matter what the conditions, they pushed to the end in every race,” she said.

The head coach, Theo Verster, said: “The end of the season always brings some exciting racing. This team didn’t disappoint,” he said.

The remainder of the Dragons team is preparing for the SA Level 1 and 3 Regional Championships, as well as the SA Junior National Championships later in March.
