Edenvale team excels at the SA canoe marathon

There were various races for all age groups, including school and marathon races with portages through the canals.

The Eurosteel team based in Edenvale performed well at the South African Canoe Marathon races that took place at St Francis Bay, in the canals, in the Eastern Cape.

The race was from June 15 to 18.

There were various races for all age groups, including school and marathon races with portages through the canals.

The were also surfski races into the ocean, for ladies and men of all ages, going up to the Great Grand Master which is 80 plus.

Numerous Gauteng paddlers participated in the singles (K1) or doubles (K2) categories, in men’s, ladies, and mixed doubles races, and they achieved excellent results and podium positions.

The Edenvale team was amongst the top finishers in the race.

The Eurosteel team did not disappoint, with five sponsored paddlers finishing in the top six men’s doubles races, as well as the singles races.

These paddlers included South Africa’s current top canoeing achiever Hank McGregor, and Gauteng top finishers Clinton Cook, Wayne Jacobs and Bradley Boulle.
