Germiston race won by long-distance runner Cacisile Sosibo
Sosibo dominated the women’s 10 000m at the 2026 CGA Track and Field Provincial Championships.
South African long-distance runner Cacisile Sosibo delivered a commanding performance at the 2026 CGA Track and Field Provincial Championships.
She won the senior women’s 10 000m race at Germiston Stadium on March 12.
Sosibo entered the race with strong momentum after competing at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, earlier this year.

She was targeting a finishing time under 34:48. Sosibo’s personal best in the distance stands at 33:15, achieved in 2022, while she also recorded a time of 33:18 in Cape Town in 2015.
Despite difficult weather conditions, Sosibo managed to secure the victory.
“The challenge was the weather because the track was wet due to the rain,” she said.
“I feel good about the win, and I look forward to my next races.”
Sosibo added that she also competed in the Absa Run Your City 10km race late last year as part of her preparation.
Finishing in second place was Casey Bosman, who crossed the line in 38:01.

Bosman said she had hoped to break the 38-minute mark but had limited preparation for the race.

“The last time I ran a 10 000m race was last year,” she said.
She explained that she had originally planned to compete internationally.
“I was supposed to be in Italy competing at the World Cross Country Championships for universities, but flights were grounded due to the Middle East conflict. On Tuesday, I decided that I would compete in the 10 000m just two days later,” Bosman said.
Third place went to Mosale Thobejane, competing in the colours of the University of Johannesburg.
The race marked Thobejane’s first attempt at the 10 000m distance, as she normally competes in the 5 000m.
“I decided to try the event because I believed I could manage the distance even though I’m used to the 5 000m,” she said.
