Laughter is the best medicine this July.

With a side-splitting line-up of top South African comedians on the bill, Emperors Palace is the place to be for jokes this July.

The go-to guy for husbands everywhere, Stuart Taylor, is up on July 12, with Learner Husband, the definitive relationship crash course for the modern South African man.

Following sold out seasons and rave reviews around the country, audiences kept begging for more of his step-by-step programme, which prepares men to survive the most perilous of all tests … marriage.

Described as “a delightful, often hilarious and always insightful one-man show”, Taylor will teach husbands how to get it right.

Whether you’re married, engaged or even thinking of getting married, you don’t want to get behind the wheel until you’ve seen this show.

The enigmatic and charismatic Karou Charou is back at Emperors Palace on July 13, and he’s bigger and bolder than ever before.

His brand new one-man show diverges wildly from his series of family-friendly shows, which means that this show is not for the faint of heart.

Karou’s latest presentation highlights what is was that led him to become the most successful Indian comedian on the circuit.

His return to his brash, unapologetic best, with no sacred cows and no holds barred, he entertains the audience for the entire 90 minutes of his comical roller coaster ride.

Karou is a master of entertainment, wandering off stage to engage in unscripted, yet hilarious, banter with the audience.

To top it all off, the show includes music, song, dance and magic, which all adds up to a riotous night of Bollywood proportions.

The final instalment of July’s Jokers comes on July 18 and 19, when the Palace of Dreams will face a Zulu ukuhlasela that will have the East Rand shaking and quaking with laughter.

The 99% Zulu Comedy, SA’s number one, vernacular stand-up comedy show, will feature a tribe of master comedians, all of whom will leave their individual rib-tickling stamp on this unique evening that akumelwe lingabi nawo.

Guests can expect satirical perceptions on a range of social and political issues, intelligent wit and relevant humour, packaged in a hleka and their home-grown dialect as a way of contributing to the preservation of indigenous languages and African pride.

All the shows will be staged in the revamped Theatre of Marcellus, which offers guests vastly improved sightlines, with plush, fixed seating, for an enhanced show experience.

The new layout has increased capacity to over 1 000 seats, complete with a VIP area for ultimate comfort.
