SA’s quintessential authentic Portuguese experience returns
Celebrate all things Portuguese this September.
Carnival City will host all things Portuguese from September 23 to 28.
After an exceptional first year success in 2013, A Festa Portuguesa will once again deliver a cultural Portuguese extravaganza like no other.
Fabulous food, business networking, tradition and fun, that’s the recipe A Festa Portuguesa 2014 is set to serve up in presenting the many sides and personalities of the Mediterranean-hugging home of the Fado.
“We want people to leave with a better understanding of our culture,” said event organiser Paula Fernandes.
“We want them to go home happy from an exceptional event, filled with rich variety and Portuguese authenticity.”
Music takes centre stage, too, with new local singing sensations, popular international Portuguese artists, as well as a beautiful dance duo turning heads everywhere they go.
Expect to hear the best in traditional, contemporary, pop and dance music – all delivered in and by passionate Portuguese personalities.
Entirely endorsed and supported by Dr Luisa Fragoso, the Consul-General of Portugal in Johannesburg, this year’s extravaganza will once more break new ground, thanks to a line-up that will have Portuguese punters of all ages coming back each day over the five-day party.
With Heritage Day sandwiched in between, this extramural add-on has meant even more Portuguese character and flavour for everyone to enjoy, for longer.
Arrive hungry as you’re assured to leave replete.
A Festa Portuguesa 2014’s extended weekend will be filled with a mix of colours, textures and moods, all geared towards intoxicating the senses, while giving outsiders a better idea of what Portuguese culture is all about.
“Come and share it with us,” Fernandes said.
“You’ll be spoilt for choice.
“Between the many restaurants, browsing and buying and overall entertainment and friendly children’s area, there’s something on offer for everyone.”
