Soccer school field handover

Refurbished soccer fields from the Dreamfields Project Liberty.

THE Dreamfields Project Liberty, in conjunction with Liberty, unveiled Nthuthuko Primary School’s refurbished soccer field on Thursday June 23, along with apparel donations for the school’s soccer team.

Located in Katlehong in the Ekurhuleni South District, Nthuthuko Primary’s relationship with Liberty kicked off in 2012, with Liberty supporting the school’s foundation phase numeracy and literacy programme.

Nthuthuko Primary is one of the 20 primary schools Liberty supports through the provision of educational content and materials for learners from Grade R to Grade 7.

“We are proud of the inroads we’ve made at Nthuthuko Primary, for the learners and the community alike,” said Joe Mwase, head of corporate affairs and sustainability at Liberty.

“Liberty has a 40-year legacy in community upliftment activities which are shaped around the wider socio-economic needs of South Africa. Thanks to our partnership with the Dreamfields Project learners, parents, teachers and the community can enjoy the field for years to come.”

School principal Mrs Masilela was very excited about the handover of the refurbished soccer field and new apparel.

“We are very happy with what Liberty has done for our school. The field will not only benefit the school, but also the community at large. Learners from schools in-and-around the area will now be able to participate in sports activities using the field.” said Mrs Masilela.
