Youngsters show class at finals

Who will be the soccer school to advance to France for the world tournament?

THE u-12 Danone Nation Cup finals took place on Saturday June 25 where the winning schools from their respective provinces participated to determine the winner.

The tournament took place at the WJ Clements Stadium in Reiger Park.

Some 150 soccer players from the various schools in South Africa competed at the finals and excellent skills by the young “up and coming” players were the order of the day.

The winners of the nationals, involving nine provincial champions, will have the opportunity to show their class in France in October to play in the world finals.

The teams were divided into two groups who played in a league with the winners of each group competing in the final.

Danone in South Africa has been hosting this tournament for the past 17 years and this is one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the world for the age group under ten to 12.
