As much as we as parents admire the hard work and commitment from some members of the police force in combating the growing drug problem in our communities, there is no doubt that the drug dealers that supply the drugs in our townships are also expanding their systems and improving their networking.
One only has to keep one’s eyes wide open to see the continued ease with which drug dealers operate with impunity in the townships.
Without doubt, our public parks have become common points for drugs and alcohol abuse, especially by the youth.
It is an open and known secret that the majority of high-school learners are addicted to some form of drug or the other.
The question parents, the police and religious groups should be asking themselves is; who is supplying our youth with all these drugs and how?
And only then can we as a society, together put a stop to this openly declared war aimed at our youth by greedy drug dealers’ in our townships.
