Well, let us all celebrate again,
It is always a good feeling when someone walks up to you and gives you a huge pat on the back for a job well done. I wish to thank Brigadier Themba Denge, the head of the Vosloorus SAPS, together with the precinct’s community forum executive team, Wiseman Langa, Jerry Ramohapi and treasurer Sam Moretsi as well as the station’s communications officer, Capt Piet Rossouw for the recognition certificate awarded to Kathorus MAIL at the Civic Center last Friday.
Without doubt, the acknowledgement has inspired us to keep up the good work of being the eyes and ears of the community of Kathorus for the past 14 years, since our very first issue on August 5, 2002. Of course we’ve had many detracters over the years, people who never gave a glimmer of hope of surviving for as long as we have, but through our resilience and God’s grace, we’ve managed to get this far.
And now that our efforts to remain your best and favourite lokshin newspaper for the past 14 years have once again been affirmed and reinforced, without doubt, Kathorus MAIL will continue to provide you with the very best, current local news and the entertainment from every part of Kathorus. We’ve done it for the past 14 years and we can only continue to grow together with you in the coming years.
It is indeed always a good feeling when once in a while, you get recognition from your own community for a job well done. Kathorus MAIL is proud to be part of the efforts by the South African Police Services to make Kathorus a better place for all its residents.
We undertake to continue to give you fresh, honest and unbiased news without fear or favour. We also promise to be your platform from which you, the reader, will also have the right express your views and the right to be informed and entertained by your favourite lokshin newspaper.

Who are these evil killers?
Whoever they are, I just wish the people involved in the killing of albinos for their limbs should be arrested and thrown into a deep and dark dungeon for many years.
Families living with relatives or children with albinism are being subjected to fears of a gang of marauding criminals hired by evil witch doctors to hunt down and abduct albinos for muthi purposes. The news of the unconfirmed killings have been dismissed by the local SAPS as unfounded, but have however managed to spread like wild fire, causing panic and anxiety for parents of and people with albinism.
Although the police have assured the public in Kathorus that there have been no such attacks against people with albinism reported in the townships, rumours surrounding the current appearance by four men, one of them a witch doctor, at a northern KZN court for the murder of an albino teenage girl last August seems to weigh a lot heavier in the conscious of concerned families with children or relatives with albinism, hence the sudden panic in other parts of the country, including Kathorus.
Scores of respectable community and religious leaders have condemned this evil and brutal practice, calling it inhumane and barbaric. They argue that the practice is not only taboo, but foreign to South Africa and South Africa’s traditional healing tradition and should be rejected by all,
