Community members of Vosloorus have witnessed part of the making of the film After Robot Love that will be televised on Mzansi Magic in September this year.

Filming started on Friday, July 27, in Vosloorus and was finished at the Germiston Lake on Monday, August 1.

Among the main actors in this film is Chumani Pani, the famous actor from Ashes to Ashes.

In this film he plays Zakes, a taxi driver who thinks he can charm all the girls and get away with it.

He is a smart dresser as well.

There is also Thobani Mbhele, who plays Sfiso, a taxi driver and a friend of Zakes.

Sfiso is a kind-hearted and loving character.

Another exciting actor is Bontle Modiselle. She plays Palesa, a teacher whose parents are expecting a lot from her.

There is also Aubrey Moalosi, who plays Mr Molefe (Palesa’s father), a good family man who cares about his family.

Director Lungelo Mdlalose said, “This is the next big thing for the local community. People must watch out as this love film will blow their minds away on their television screen. It is a love story between a school teacher and a taxi driver. It’s like a Romeo and Juliet kind of story whereby the couple try to make their love work against the expectations of society. The people who are in love here are Sfiso and Palesa. Zakes becomes jealous of their love because he wanted Palesa for himself. He does not see Palesa falling for Sfiso, as Sfiso drives an old ugly taxi compared with his. But a beautiful Palesa falls for Sfiso instead.”

Moalosi explains, “Mr Molefe (Palesa’s father) does not approve of the relationship of her daughter and Sfiso because he wants only the best for his daughter. He never saw his daughter falling for just a taxi driver. But there was a time when the relationship between Molefe and Sfiso developed. It was after Molefe was rescued by Sfiso from the attackers. Molefe never expected to see such a good, kind character in Sfiso, a taxi driver. From there Sfiso and Molefe became good in-laws. The message we are trying to send here is, do not judge a book by its cover.”

According to Mdlalose he chose to shoot in the local community because he comes from the East Rand. He says he wishes he could have used local actors but unfortunately he did not find actors in time for the shoot. But they will start auditioning in the East Rand for the drama that they are busy writing. He also said that he wanted to empower local business a lot, and he used more local crew during the shoot.

The details as where to purchase the movie are yet to be released.
