An organisation to host a gala diner.
According to the director Leonard Nzama, the dinner is to raise funds for a computer centre to teach community members basic computer skills.
Gugulethu Parents for Orphans, a non-profit organisation (NPO) based in Vosloorus, is hosting a gala dinner on Saturday, October 29.
The dinner will take place at Vosloorus-based Mampuli Primary School, in Ponong Section at 5pm.
According to the director Leonard Nzama, the dinner is to raise funds for a computer centre to teach community members basic computer skills.
“Our organisation doesn’t have much income; we only receive money from the government. We apply once and receive funds once a year for three years.
“But the money we receive is no longer enough and we want to build a computer centre.”
Nzama said their organisation, at 19482 Banjul Crescent, provides a variety of services to the community.
“We are a centre for orphans and vulnerable children, we also have a support group for HIV positive people, we offer HIV tests and counselling, we also test blood pressure and blood glucose as well.We assist orphans with drama, poetry and singing.”
Nazama said they would like to get any sponsorship to be able to go a long way with helping their community.
“We would like to invite the public to support this dinner event so that they will know what we are doing for the community. Those who might like to lend their helping hands they will be allowed to do so. Any help they will offer will be highly appreciated.
“Alternatively, they can help by buying tickets that are sold at only R150 per couple,” said Nzama.
For more information contact Nzama on 0110257299 or 07172309218.
The sister organisation of Gugulethu called Kamva Elitsha, also an NPO, is said to be in need of the similar help.
They are based at number 247 Lekgopa Street Vosloorus.
