Ekurhuleni bins roll-out a success
"You know there are so many diseases that come with littering. Now that we have these bins the problem is solved,” said Ramolope.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in partnership with Glo Wox and Impact have distributed thousands of wheelie bins to community members in past weeks.
On Friday, October 28, it was the turn of Vosloorus ward 44 community members to receive their bins.
According to one of the community members, Jacob Shirindza, this project means a lot to him and the entire community. “I feel very happy and so are the community members. The reason why I am so happy is not only that I have been given this wonderful gift, but also that I work for Glo Wox and they are paying me well. I have nothing to complain about,” said Shirindza.
Another Glo Wox employee and community member, Palesa Ramolope, said she was excited about the project. “I am very happy that this project has taken place. It shows that our municipality is thinking about our well-being.
“Having these bins means a cleaner environment because there will be less littering in our townships as we will have these bins to put waste in.
“You know there are so many diseases that come with littering. Now that we have these bins the problem is solved,” said Ramolope.
According to Ntsiki Mgcina, the project manager and an Impact employee, the project was a success. “Everywhere we go people are praising the wonderful job that their municipality is doing for them.
“We are giving away 1 000 dustbins per day.
“A month ago we were distributing in Spruit. From there we went to Spruitview.
“I am glad that people are happy with the project. It means the project is a success. Those community members whom we have not yet visited must not panic as we are still coming to them,” said Mgcina.
