Joint roadblock operation held on N3
“People must get used to seeing us on the street as there will be more roadblocks before December,” said Rossouw.
Ekurhuleni East, West, South and Central clusters held a joint roadblock operation on Thursday, November 10.
The roadblock took place on the N3 at the weighbridge from 10am until 1pm.
Communication officer at Vosloorus Police Station, Capt Piet Rossouw, said the roadblock was held outside Heidelberg with the aim of combating crime as the festive season approaches.
“We want to do all that we can to minimise crime. We also wanted to do something as Ekurhuleni clusters to make sure that our community is safe before Christmas.
“People must get used to seeing us on the street as there will be more roadblocks before December,” said Rossouw.
Rossouw said he was happy to see all the Ekurhuleni clusters communication officers, social crime prevention, the Ekurhuleni Central trio task team, Gauteng Law Enforcement and station members maintaining the roadblock.
“We stopped about 650 vehicles and searched 1 564 people. We issued 13 fines valued at about R6 400 each.
“One car was deemed unsafe to be on the road and another was discontinued,” Rossouw said.
“We have our community’s best interest at heart and their safety is our main priority,” concluded Rossouw.
