Top models to showcase their talent
Top Model SA culminates at the Big Top Arena.
Carnival City’s Big Top Arena provides the stage for the glittering finale of Top Model South Africa on February 17.
This is the second time that Carnival City will play host to the final showcase of what is the most prestigious model search in the country.
The grand finale of Top Model South Africa promises red carpet glamour, spectacular fashion, and will be attended by A-list celebrities and top media alike.
Top Model South Africa is without a doubt the biggest platform for new models to be discovered in South Africa.
The winners (one male and one female) will walk away with a number of phenomenal prizes, including management contracts with some of South Africa’s top model agencies, an editorial spread with Maxim magazine, and a portfolio shoot with top photographer Amorie Pearson.
“It is amazing to see the change Top Model South Africa brings to people’s lives, not only for the two winners, but for every single contestant,” said Suzette Marais, CEO of Top Model South Africa.
“This is not merely a modelling competition.
“Yes, we strive to discover new talent and give them a platform, but we also help develop their social skills.
“They receive advice from the best mentors and industry professionals, and we try our best to prepare them for what is known as an extremely harsh industry.
“In the process we become like a family to them.”
Last year’s winners, Deidré Engelbrecht (23) and Dean Alberts (19), haven’t looked back since they walked away with this esteemed title.
Deidré, originally from Pretoria, is with Ice Models in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The 1.82m tall beauty is currently one of SA’s most sought after runway models, and has walked for top fashion designers including Gert-Johan Coetzee, Ryan Keys and Chinese couturier, Chu Yan.

The female winner of the 2018 Top Model South Africa competition will also have the opportunity to compete in London for the international title, Top Model Worldwide.
Two of the competition’s previous winners Nirelda Andreke (2014) and Anri Pretorius (2016) went on to win the global title.
This achievement immediately elevates Top Model South Africa to an international platform.
The current titleholder of Top Model Worldwide, Russian model Viktorija Kartanovic, will make an appearance at the Grand Finale at Carnival City.
The production of this year’s event will once again be managed by renowned producer and choreographer, Willie Venter, and will feature designs by Kyna Consili, Dress Me Tonight (Rozanne Georghiou), Claris (Gerrit Pienaar), AVD Couture (Adriaan van Wyk), Michelle Mouton, Couture Esperanza (Abolaji Aremu), Black Tie and The Dapper Toad.
