Thaba Eco Village, combining urban lifestyle with nature

Reuben Louw introduced the Thaba Eco Village, the culmination of a dream held by the Louw family for many years.

The Thaba Eco Village opened on October 3.

It was officially opened with a showing in the South of Johannesburg, where Reuben Louw, the owner, and Steve Brooks, CEO of Baldwin Properties, the developer of the project, introduced people to the new eco village.

According to Louw, the dream for the eco village was based on three important facets. Firstly, they wanted to create a lifestyle so they can provide a place for people to live and enjoy themselves.

Secondly, they wanted the project to be environmentally friendly, stemming from his father Henk Louw’s love for nature, especially the pockets of nature left in the South. The last part of the development was to create a sustainable project that can last for generations to come.

According to Brooks, working with the Louw family they will make the dreams they had for the area come true. The new development will feature all the luxuries associated with one of their developments, including a lagoon. The project is estimated to be completed within 10 years’ time.

As part of the plan to seamlessly merge nature with a modern living lifestyle, the Thaba Eco Village will feature a brand new concept to link the nature of the Thaba Eco Village with the nature of the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. A eco bridge will be built, spanning the road between the two to allow both animals and people to cross the road without the danger of crossing the road itself.
