Suspect arrested minutes after armed robbery at Ratanda business

A suspect was arrested shortly after an armed robbery at a Ratanda business on June 11, following a rapid response by the Ratanda Anti-Crime Unit and SAPS. Officers recovered a toy firearm and several knives believed to have been used during the incident.

A man was arrested following an armed robbery at a local business in Ratanda on the evening of June 11, after a swift response by members of the Ratanda Anti-Crime Unit and the South African Police Service.

According to information received, Ratanda SAPS alerted RACU members shortly after the robbery was reported.

Members immediately responded to the scene, gathering information from the victims and obtaining descriptions of the suspects allegedly involved in the incident.

Acting on the information provided, RACU members launched a search operation in the area. Within minutes, they spotted a suspect matching the victims’ description and pursued him, making an arrest.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of a toy firearm and several knives believed to have been used during the commission of the robbery.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to Ratanda SAPS for further investigation.

A criminal case has been opened, and police are continuing their investigation to determine whether additional suspects may have been involved.
