The Heidelberg community is mourning the death of well-known community member and businessman Abrie “Robbies” Beetge, who died on July 10 at the age of 61.

Beetge’s family confirmed that he developed a serious infection after undergoing back surgery, which later resulted in multiple organ failure. His condition worsened when his heart stopped.

According to the family, he had not been ill before the operation, and his sudden passing came as a great shock to those who knew and loved him.

Known as a caring and dedicated individual, Beetge will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who made a lasting impact on many lives.

He was the owner of Minatlou Protection Services and played a prominent role in the motorcycling community as the National President of the Leader Of The Pack Bike Club.

Through his leadership and involvement, he earned the respect of fellow bikers and community members alike.

Although Beetge later continued his life and work in Brakpan, he maintained strong connections with Heidelberg, where he lived for many years and became a familiar and respected figure.
