Quick response by Emergency Services after pedestrian struck by bakkie on R23 near Heidelberg
A pedestrian was rushed to hospital after being struck by a bakkie on the R23 near Heidelberg.
A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a bakkie on July 15, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to the Rensburg Forum, one of its members noticed a damaged bakkie parked alongside the road and a man lying nearby.
The member immediately alerted the forum’s communication network, enabling emergency services to respond without delay.
On arrival, emergency personnel confirmed that the incident involved a pedestrian-vehicle collision.

It is understood that the driver of the bakkie did not see the pedestrian before the impact.
The injured pedestrian received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital by Gauteng Provincial Government Emergency Medical Services for further care.

The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries has not yet been disclosed. Several emergency services attended the scene, including the Rensburg Forum, Gauteng Provincial Government Emergency Medical Services, Lesedi Traffic Department, Gauteng Traffic Police, the South African Police Service, and towing services.
The Rensburg Forum commended its members and all emergency responders for their prompt action, professionalism, and coordinated teamwork, saying the quick response ensured the injured pedestrian received timely medical assistance.
