The High Court this morning has ruled in favour of the DA’s application to oppose the merger between Lesedi Local Municipality into the greater Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the municipalities of Midvaal and Emfuleni into the greater River City Metropolitan.
DA Councillor Gerry Holtzhausen said the DA welcomes the verdict, but are concerned about the assets (i.e. municipal vehicles) belonging to Ekurhuleni, that is already in use at Lesedi.
Holtzhausen is also concerned about municipal employees who has already appropriated bigger salaries (in accordance with Ekurhuleni) for themselves.
