“Before setting off to your holiday destination or getting consumed in festive shopping, do stop by at your nearest Ekurhuleni Customer Care Centre to settle your account and avoid credit control measures such as electricity disconnection, being implemented,” EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe said.

Registering on the metro’s online platform will also make viewing your statement and paying for your services a breeze.

Rate payers are also advised to make payments ahead of time as the municipality’s offices will be closed between Christmas and New Year.

“Municipal offices will be closed from 13:00 on December 24 and will reopen on Monday January 4 2016,” Gadebe warned.

Emergency and essential services’ officials will however, continue to work throughout this period.
