“It is therefore a responsibility of each household to familiarise themselves with the refuse removal schedule in order to know the day in which refuse is to be collected,” EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe said.

Residents will soon receive a colour-coded refuse removal calendar which reflects the collection days for 52 weeks of the year. Waste collection services will be provided on all public holidays except December 25 and this will result in a consistent service all year around.

Residents are urged to ensure that their bins (not plastic bags) are on the sidewalk as early as 07:00 on the collection day. The calendar will also be available on their website soon.
