Policing Forum in partnership with SAPS making difference in Nigel

NIGEL - Crime free communities in South Africa may never exist, but through the continuous effort in fighting crime, law enforcement and policing sectors are gradually making a dent, especially in Nigel, where reports of serious residential crimes have reduced notably.

Over the past 12 months, crime trends seemed to have shifted from countless reports of break-ins and armed robberies, to a few recent business break-ins and armed robberies. The policing forum (Nigel CPF) and Nigel Community on Patrol (NCOP) are said to contribute effectively in this crime reduction.

Whereas Nigel CPF is a direct link between the community and the police to address and solve safety problems in different sectors of the area, the police also have a key role to play in working with the public and communities to prevent and control crime. This is achieved through community-oriented policing and similar approaches that encourage consultative and collaborative arrangements between the police and residents.
