Armed robbers descent on Gibela Rail building site

NIGEL - Tyres worth thousands of rands were looted during a business robbery that occurred at the Gibela Rail construction site on February 25.

According to police spokesperson W/O Tommy Tomlinson from SAPS Dunnottar, the robbery occurred around 21:00 after four security guards were overpowered by a group of men, of which two were armed. The guards were tied up with shoelaces and locked inside a container. They were only found at 06:00 the next morning when the day-shift guards reported for duty.

“The suspects made off with a number of tyres which they removed from construction vehicles on site. Some wore balaclavas and others hoodies, which makes identification difficult for the guards that were overpowered,” W/O Tomlinson explained.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.
