According to polices spokesperson W/O Madeleine Von Wielligh, a by-passer discovered the body in the morning hours of February 27, as he was making his way towards the taxi rank in Northern Road.

He reported his gruesome discovery to the police and members from SAPS Nigel immediately responded. Upon their arrival, police found the body lying in the field. He had died from blunt force to the head with an unknown object.

It is not clear when exactly the murder occurred, but according to W/O Von Wielligh the body had been exposed to the cold and wet weather conditions for several hours.

A murder case will be investigated.
