Gibela Rail’s ground-breaking ceremony

NIGEL - Today marks an important date for all stakeholders in the Gibela Rail train manufacturing site, as the soil was officially turned during a groud-breaking ceremony at the construction site.

Among the guests were Ms D Peters (Minister of Transport), Mr M Masina (Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry), Mondli Gungubele (executive mayor of Ekurhuleni), Ms E Barbier (the ambassador of France), Mr P Molefe (PRASA chairperson), Mr H Poupart-Lafarge (president of ALSTOM), Mark Granger (CEO of Gibela), members from SAPS, Ekurhuleni Metro Police and the media.

Guestes were welcomed at the construction site in Dunnottar, where Gibela CEO Mark Granger elaborated on the technical background of the project.

Minister Peters also took the stand to add words of appreciation towards PRASA , followed by the official soil turning ceremony.

After closing of the ceremony, guests were treated to a luncheon at the Faranani Multipurpose Centre in Tsakane.
