57 Year old arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm
DUDUZA - A 57 year old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on March 28.

According to police spokesperson W/O Yakub Rasool, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Community liaison unit in conjunction with the SAPS Springs, followed up on information received from an informer and later found the vehicle which was pointed out by the informant.
A thorough search of the vehicle and the suspect driver revealed a hidden 9mm pistol, which the suspect carried in his trousers. On closer inspection, the officers discovered that the serial number and manufacturer branding has been filed off. The 57 year African male was immediately arrested and escorted to SAPS Duduza, where he was detained for possession of an unlicensed firearm. His conviction was executed in line with the national and provincial strategies of the SA Police Services.
Capt MP Nyaku (acting station commander) commended all members involved for their professional and dedicated actions, which resulted in a successful arrest. He added that this arrest should serve as a warning to criminals that they will be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
