SAPS Heidelberg crime report

The following cases have been reported to SAPS Heidelberg from 18 to 24 June:

Police are investigating a case of copper cable theft, which occurred at Transnet in Viljoen Street on June 18. The value of the stolen cables amount to approximately R49 000.

An assault case was reported to the Police after a worker was reportedly assaulted by his employer on June 21. The incident occurred at a business at Driemanskap and is being investigated.

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder, following an incident that occurred at the N3 De Hoek tollgate on June 22.

According to police spokesperson Capt Thivhulawi Tshilati, a truck driver travelling from Johannesburg to Durban reportedly pulled over for a quick stop next to the road, when he was approached by two men in security uniform. He was told to lie on the ground, but when attempted to flee, he was shot by one of the suspects. The driver managed to get back into the truck and sped off to a nearby truck stop, where he called for help. He was later transported to Heidelberg Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made.

A case of theft was reported, following an incident that occurred at a block of flats in Van der Westhuizen Street on June 22. According to Capt Tshilate, two people approached a tenant as potential buyers and asked whether they could look around the flat and also the garage. After they left, the tenant went to look for her laptop and discovered it had been stolen.

Batteries worth around R5 000 were reported stolen from a local business in End Street.

Police are investigating a case of carjacking, following an incident which occurred on the N3 off ramp (Kliprivier) on June 22 when the driver of an Isuzu double-cab bakkie was hijacked, after he transported two females from Mooirivier. No arrests have been made.

In as similar incident the driver of a Mercedes Benz was hijacked by a group of men driving in a Toyota Quantum. The incident occurred at the N3 Jacobs Street off-ramp on June 22. No arrests have been made.

A toolbox and machinery worth around R4 700 were stolen from a car in Vlok Street on June 24.

Police are investigating a case of common assault after a woman was reportedly attacked by another woman. No arrests have been made and police are investigating the matter.
