Friday night special operation in Nigel nets drunk drivers
As well as unroadworthy vehicles and undocumented persons
On August 10 between 6pm and 10pm, the EMPD Nigel Precinct officers mounted a roadblock at the intersection of Springs and Heidelberg Roads – targeting drunk drivers and unroadworthy vehicles.
The operation yielded four drunk drivers, six unroadworthy private vehicles and four undocumented persons. Sixty-one spot summonses were issued for various offences including invalid documentation and defects on vehicles.
The unroadworthy vehicles were taken to EMPD pound facility and the four arrested drivers were detained at Nigel Police Station on charges driving while under the influence of alcohol. They were expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
