Nigel Crime Report 10 to 15 September

  • A burglary occurred at a local bakery in First Street on September 10.
    According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba, the break-in occurred during the night and the suspects reportedly made off with several loaves of bread and eggs.
  • A burglary occurred at a church in MacKenzieville on September 10.
    Several items inside the church, which is estimated at around R7 500, had been reported stolen.
  • A burglary occurred at a local fruit and vegetable store in Milner Avenue on September 11.
  • Police are investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle, following an incident which occurred at the parking area of The Angelo Mall on September 10.
    According to Sgt Dwaba, the victim claims she visited the supermarket to buy food and when she returned, she noted that her car was unlocked. Upon closer investigation, she discovered that her cellphone and laptop were stolen from the boot.
  • A case of malicious damage to property was reported after a protest which occurred at a smeltery in Johnson Street, Pretoriusstad on September 11.
  • A burglary occurred at a business situated in Springs Road on September 13.
    The complainant told police that access was gained by forced entry and that meat and a television worth around R11 000 were stolen.
  • Police are investigating a business break-in which occurred at a spaza shop situated in Usuthu Street, Alrapark on September 14 where an undisclosed amount of groceries have been reported stolen.
  • Police arrested a suspect in Eeufees Avenue on September 15, for possession of drugs. He is expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
