Police are investigating an assault case, following an incident which occurred at Hallgate on October 16.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba, the victim was at work when a co-worker struck him with a padlock in the face. He was later transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
A carjacking occurred in Van Riebeeck Street on October 16, when the driver and passenger of the private delivery company was hijacked by a group of armed men, while making a delivery at a local business. According to Sgt Dwaba, the driver was confirming a business address and while walking back to the delivery vehicle to collect the parcels, he was allegedly approached by two African men (of which one was armed). After the driver and passenger were locked in the back of the van, the suspects drove a short distance and stopped in the road where they were joined by another group of suspects, who then off-loaded the parcels into two separate vehicles. They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of boxes.
A burglary occurred at a business in Vorsterskroon on October 18 where a laptop worth around R10 000 was reported stolen.
Police are investigating a break-in which occurred at a house in Hendrik Verwoerd Street on October 18.
According to Sgt Dwaba, access was gained through a security gate that was forced open. Several windows were also broken and it was reported by the home owner that several bathroom taps, shower taps, an outside basin, garden taps and electrical wires were stolen.
A business break-in is being investigated by the police, following an incident which occurred at a business in Vorsterskroon on October 19. Thugs have gained access to the office by cutting open the roof. The alarm system was also deactivated and a large glass door was broken. A laptop worth around R7 000 had been reported stolen.
A house robbery occurred in Krisante Street on October 19 when three African males entered the house around 06:00. According to Sgt Dwaba, the suspects threatened the victim and his wife with fire-arms, while demanding money and the keys to the safe. After ransacking the house, the suspects made off with a firearm that was locked inside the safe, an Opel Corsa and a television. No arrests have been made.
Police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred in Hendrik Verwoerd Street on October 19.
The complainant told police he went to Absa Bank to make a deposit and just when he was about to enter the bank, an African male wearing a balaclava approached him from behind and aimed a firearm at him. He allegedly told the complainant to drop the money bag, which he then picked up and climbed into a silver/grey Mercedes Benz. The bag contained R4 000. No arrests have been made.
Police are warning residents about an increase in mag wheel theft. The latest incident occurred at a house in Graaff Reinet Street on October 19, where the wheels and rims had been stolen off a bakkie.
