The role of principal is not only a great responsibility, but also immensely challenging and rewarding. However, after co-steering the school for the past 10 years as deputy principal, Elize said she is ready to lead by example.
Her appointment caps 28 years of educational experience, both in the classroom as well as administration as head of department at Nigel High School. She was appointed as deputy principal of Nigel Primary School in 2008 and having spent the past 10 years in this position, she has learned what makes a good school an even better one. Her vision for the school is threefold – first to make a difference, secondly to add value and thirdly to achieve unity and pride.
“Being an educator or a principal nowadays brings a certain amount of challenges to the table, but I truly believe in kindness and letting the sun shine over others. My personal outlook on life is based on the following: Imagine yourself standing in front of three gates. Now ask yourself these questions and if your answers are not yes, don’t enter. Is it true? Is it necessary and is it kind?”

Both their children Pieter (25) and Annika (21) attended Nigel Primary School and completed their high school careers at Springs Boys- and Girls High School, from where they continued to further their tertiary studies at University of Pretoria.
Elize is confident that she will build on the strengths of the school, while taking it to greater heights in all spheres.
