A burglary occurred in a church in Alrapark on November 18 where electrical equipment worth thousands of Rands were reported stolen.
A case of malicious damage to property was reported to the police after an attempted break-in at a business in Springs Road on November 19. According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba, a lock had been broken.
Two suspects were taken to the police station for questioning, after they were accused of assaulting a female victim over a rental issue in Pretoriusstad on November 20.
A woman was reportedly robbed of her cellphone and laptop while walking along York Street on November 20. According to Sgt Dwaba, the victim was grabbed from behind and then strangled by one of the suspects, while the other took her cellphone and laptop carry bag. They fled on foot.
A burglary occurred at a house in Alrapark on November 21, were several household items were reported stolen.
A factory worker was caught stealing on November 22. He was reportedly searched by a security guard, who discovered the employee had hidden several sheets of metal (including stainless steel) in a trolley bin.
Police are investigating a case of house break-in and theft, after an incident which occurred at a house in Alrapark on November 22. According to Sgt Dwaba, household items (including jewellery) were reported stolen.
A car was reported stolen in Court Street on November 22. According to Sgt Dwaba, the victim attended Nigel Magistrate’s Court around 12:30 and claims that upon his return later the same afternoon, the car was no longer where he had parked it.
A burglary occurred at spaza shop in Extension 3 Alrapark on November 23 where meat and ice cream were reported stolen.
Police are investigating a possible carjacking which occurred on November 23 on the corner of Balfour Road and Eeufees Avenue. According to Sgt Dwaba, the driver of a brown SUV flagged down the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz pretending to seek directions. The next moment two men appeared from the side and threatened to shoot the driver of the Mercedes Benz if he did not cooperate. He was told to hand over his bank card and pin number, which he did. The suspects allegedly withdrew money from his account and later left the driver beside the road in Driemanskap, before driving off with his car.
Several people were arrested on November 24 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A suspect was arrested and charged with rape, following an incident which allegedly occurred behind The Angelo Mall on November 25. According to Sgt Dwaba the complainant visited a tavern in town and when she gathered her belongings later that evening to return home, an African male offered to walk with her to Jameson Park. When they reached an open veld behind the mall, the male suspect suddenly grabbed the victim and shoved her to the ground, where he sexually assaulted her. The victim later managed to phone the police for assistance.
