A car dealership was robbed at gunpoint by four unknown males on January 25.
This according to Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo – the communication officer of the Germiston Flying Squad, who said the robbers entered the dealership in Kismet Street at around 17:00 and used cable ties to tie up the employees.
“Shots were also fired during the robbery, but nobody was injured,” Const Ngcobo said.
She added that the robbers, after tying up all employees, took three sets of car keys, a number of cellphones and bankcards which they fled with in three stolen vehicles.
After the police were notified of the robbery, members of the Ekurhuleni Flying Squad (who were posted on the N3 freeway) started to look out for the stolen vehicles.
“Shortly thereafter a red BMW was discovered abandoned next to the road near the Jacobs Street off ramp on the N3 and it was confirmed to be one of the stolen vehicles,” Const Ngcobo said.
The police are still on the lookout for the remaining two BMWs and requested members of the public to assist them either with information that relates to the robbery or information that could result in the successful arrest of the suspects.
