The suspects aged 18 and 30 years old were arrested on June 24 in the parking lot of Tony’s Action Bar and at Heidelberg Taxi Rank respectively on charges of drug possession.
VISPOL Commander Lt Col M Mkhabelane, Sgt V Zondo and Const N Zulu were conducting a routine patrol in Heidelberg central business district when Sgt Zondo spotted an 18-year-old suspect around 14:45 rolling what looked like a cigarette. Upon investigation it was found that he was rolling dagga. When they searched his backpack, a plastic bag containing dagga was found and he was arrested on charges of possession of illegal substances.
Shortly after, as police were on their way to book the suspect, a 30-year-old male was spotted at Heidelberg Taxi Rank. Lt Col Mkhabelane conducted a search and found a matchbox containing three loops of Nyaope in his pocket. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of illegal substances.
Both suspects appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on June 25 for possession of illegal substances.
